Production

Production could be summarised as the presentation of narrative via a medium. In order to present the narrative clearly the content needs to be captured, assembled, edited, possibly enhanced for reasons of clarity or aesthetics and then diffused. The narrative may be freshly-created or adapted from existing material, may be factual, fictional or a combination, may be seconds, minutes or hours in length, may be intended for broadcast, web output, physical media or all of them. Once complete, the narrative and may be stored until needed and then remain stored for further use or repurposing. An ideal production environment would make it possible to achieve all this in a streamlined fashion where all required contributions can be made easily and quickly by those participating in the production in order to minimise unnecessary costs and delays.

Already in use in dozens of production facilities around the world, Cinegy Workflow software makes this ideal situation a reality. Raw material can be captured, ingested or converted from existing content, tagged with metadata explaining defining (for instance) context, who is in it and who made it, and then edited into shape. Once each part is ready, it can be added to a timeline for the production on to which additional video and audio tracks can easily be placed. Graphics, effects, credits and the like are similarly easily added. But all the while the underlying material remains intact for reuse, permitting different versions of the narrative all created from the same source.
